Non-Profits Go Mobile

July 29th, 2009

The Seattle Times just published a great article on how non-profit companies are now using mobile marketing. It is no secret that the advances in cell phones have made them one of the best ways to communicate with the public. Now, instead of texting IDOL04 for your favorite American Idol contestant, you can text GIVE or MEALS for your favorite cause. Given the success of mobile campaigns in the retail market, it might have an interesting effect on the non-profit world. Some of these organizations have achieved impressive numbers from the campaigns. Drawbacks are provider fees and smaller donation increments. Benefits are reaching a different demographic and instant response time.
